Identification of linen fabric? Pure linen of good quality is sold at a higher price in the market. The price also reflects the quality of the linen. Cheap linen is mostly made of oakum and has shorter fibers. Some merchants sell semi-linen, cotton linen cloth mixed with linen, we can use the following methods to distinguish.
Identification of linen fabric:
(1) Light inspection to see whether the thickness of longitude and latitude lines is uniform. If the warp and weft are too uniform, it may be cotton fabric.
(2) tighten the fabric to check the tightness of the weaving.
(3) High-quality primary color linen is brown, glossy and absorbs water evenly. Linen of poor quality, treated into soft fibers, absorbs water unevenly and turns black when wet.
(4) Outer worsted linen, the less plush the surface, the better.
(5) The vertical and horizontal tightness of half linen is different.
(6) Pull a thread, if there is bending and splitting phenomenon at both ends, the thread is cotton thread. The torn linen thread should be smooth at both ends, otherwise it is not pure.
(7) If caustic soda is applied to a canvas, linen will appear brownish yellow and cotton pale yellow.
